Appi Clinics, Appi Health Group: World-Leaders in Pilates Coaching

‘Ben has been one of our most popular and engaging teachers ever.  He has an impressive and ever evolving repertoire which challenges both mind and body to explore, develop and grow in both ability and confidence.  Every experience is positive, laced with good humour and a sprinkling with cheeky fun which keeps you wanting to come back for more.  I highly recommend you try Bens classes for yourself – you will not be disappointed!’

‘Getting a 45 year old office worker with a history of back pain to cover 56 miles was a major achievement! When I first came to you, I was in some discomfort; your sensitive approach to our sessions soon corrected that and, in fact, I remained injury-free in all the time we worked together. I appreciated you helping me set challenging goals throughout the programme and the sessions were always varied. I’m not going to say they were always enjoyable but they did open my eyes to the benefits of a targeted training regime. I hope to see you soon.’

We always look forward to Ben's classes! Ben has a great easy going manner combined with good attention on form and technique. We've definitely noticed the difference his classes have made to our strength and flexibility.

Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for helping with my long term hip and lower back pain. Ben is very professional and knowledgeable and has provided lots of support and encouragement throughout. I would highly recommend him.

Lucy N. (Restore and Reform)

Ben is a highly capable reformer Pilates instructor (and we know how to sort the wheat from the chaff!) He’s very clear with his instruction, always works within parameters that the clients are capable of, and has a varied and interesting repertoire.

He is very knowledgeable with injuries delivering week-long rehabilitation programmes to clients who were either post-surgical or had a wide range of injuries. Presenting conditions varied from a twelve level spinal fusion, to a total shoulder replacement, a mid-foot reconstruction, a post-natal client, and three clients who were all suffering from lower back and hip pain. We knew all of our clients were in capable hands.

I met Ben a few years ago when I was taking Reformer classes. I found him to be friendly, and good at interacting with clients.

I’m visually impaired, and would find it hard to see the trainer and follow the class if it was full, so I decided to book a block of 1-2-1 sessions with Ben. As always, the classes were great, and Ben would point out where I needed to make corrections

Ben's classes were set apart because he often 'tweaked' the move, a slight move of the ankle or placement of the hand made the regular exercises different, activating muscles that sometimes are left behind when you do daily classes' - his instructions are clear and educational. I knew, I would need this style of instruction.

A 2013 hip impingement/ torn labrum, and Akylosing Spondylitis means that I need to move daily to maintain my health. Prior to lockdown - I was weakening, losing mobility. My body was maintained by weekly physiotherapy, acupuncture, osteopath appointments and weekly injections to manage the pain of my arthritis. To say, I was concerned about the implications of lockdown would have on my health was an understatement.

I am stronger, more mobile, my back and arthritis are managed and am now able to hold a plank and do push ups, begrudgingly! It may seem like a small thing, but 2 years ago I lost the ability to do single leg bridges, the activation of my glutes just weren't working and it’s something I have been working towards with my physio. 13 weeks in - I am able to complete multiple sets, keeping my pelvis stable without discomfort. I credit Ben's classes for this improvement.

Ben's classes are focused and full body. Ben builds the class throughout the week and month and returns to the exercise to show progression. His instruction means that even a roll down can be hard work - he'll remind you to engage your core and activate your glutes making the class as difficult as you want and a full body workout.

I can't recommend Ben highly enough.
